The Fourth South American Workshop on String Processing (WSP'97) will take place in Valparaíso, Chile, as part of a bigger event, the XXIII Latin-American Conference in Informatics and the XV International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society locally organized by the Technical University Federico Santa María.
The First, Second, and Third Workshops were held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in September 1993, in Valparaíso, Chile, in April 1995, and in Recife, Brazil, in August 1996, respectively.
WSP'97 covers research in all aspects of String Processing. Typical topics of interest include: dictionary algorithms, text searching, pattern alignment, DNA sequencing and applications in molecular biology, voice or natural language processing. Surveys of important results are also invited.
Proceedings will be published by Carleton University Press as for WSP'96.
